I usually choose the one I find most "modern" looking - which is definitely the Mercury today - but I love the Buick for 1957 so I voted for it!

The Buick may look a bit dated by comparison but it's a beauty, whereas the Mercury of this era didn't grab me at all.

I like the Montclaire far more than the Turnpike Cruiser with all its foibles. But in comparison with that wild-bred yellow stallion, oh man; no contest. The Century gets 100 out of 100.

Buick. It has a unified look, while the Mercury looks disjointed (but in a fun way).

Buick, one of my favorite years - I like all the Buicks of 55-57.

John, you really picked two goodies today!

I like both a lot, but if I were given one over the other, the BUICK wins me over for its more sedate and compact look.  Yes, compared to the Mercury it's dated looking, but then the Mercury as beautiful as it is, seemed to be "way out there" in comparison.

Being honest, the other reason I would choose the Buick, is that I could drive it without  garnering a lot of attention, while the Mercury would bring the stares and attention to me driving it every mile.

I prefer to enjoy my car without the attention (I think) the Mercury would bring my way.  I'm not one of those guys that have to "show-off" with the "look what I have" mindset.

Thanks George. I'm thinking the yellow Buick Century convertible pictured here will draw a lot more attention than the red Montclair. Could it be deep down you're an "Attention Ho" like some of us here? Laughing Out Loud

I absolutely love both cars and can't think of two more polar opposites. The Mercury says hello from every vantage point while the Buick whispers a subtle message of grace and poise. I'm going with grace and poise.

It's the Merc for me. It's always been a favorite,  the Buick, not so much. That's just me though.😁

I’m with Gino on this one. Never have been much of a Buick fan. I do like the lines of that Mercury.

Vote for Buick. The 1957 Buick made real cool wagons. The square Mercury lines are nice and I like the rear lights but the grill is a turn off.

I had to go with the Buick on this one. The Mercury is interesting. But for me, the eye stops too frequently when trying to take in the whole design. The Buick seems, as some have pointed out, more unified.
