I voted PONTIAC, but though I may be a Fan Club of just one, I really do like the EDSEL styling for '58.

In the Fall of 1957 there was a Ford dealership on the street behind the house we lived in.  I only 6 years old, but I always liked seeing the cars come and go from that dealer lot.  And it was really exciting when they got the NEW really different looking EDSEL delivered to their showroom.  I liked it as a kid and still like it today.

I like and appreciate the Edsel much more now than back in the day; mainly due to its place in automotive history.  I am lukewarm on its styling; much prefer the '59.  The Pontiac however is gorgeous IMHO and is a clear winner in this matchup.

Then Pontiac, with time and nostalgia, Edsel.

Never could I take the Edsel styling.  My sister had a well used one with a monster engine [410 cu in] with a push button transmission in the steering wheel, which went bad so I mounter a Mercury push button set up to the left of the wheel which worked alright.  What a junk, always something wrong with it.  And didn't go very good considering the size of the engine.  Pontiac please.

'58 Edsel is right up there with the Buick/Olds for ugliest cars of the '50's add the '59 Chevy & Caddy, just one man's opinion.

The Edsel is an acquired taste. It was so under-hyped as a styling catastrophe that everyone, back then, bought into that presumption. You would turn it down if given to you as a gift. Now, as an 'oddity', you would accept it willingly. And although, hype aside, it was a nicely designed car, the 'horse collar' / 'Ford-sucking-on-a-lemon' front end, diminishes its mystique.

The Pontiac was, and is, a solidly styled-for-the-time machine. My vote.

The 58 Edsel is my favorite Edsel but up against the Pontiac it hasn't a chance.

OMG!  I was so disappointed with the bland totally Ford looking '59 Edsel.  The '58 was so different and so iconic.  Then in '59 it was just completely void of all the great personality the '58 gave us.

Love both but it's the Pontiac that gets my vote.

I really like them both, but the unique look of the Edsel gets my vote.
