Tough choice.  I always liked both, but today I like the Mercury more.  Love the panoramic rear backlite and the sculpted rocket look on the sides.

This is GOOD John! I have not been a fan of either. But I have yet to vote no interest in any of these that I can recall. So, if I force myself to look at each and vote I find my vote falling on the Dodge! To me, it's a little more pleasing to the eye.

Dodge. Can’t get away from those great fins and cat like face. They need to put whiskers on it.  But I will say I do like the taillights on the Mercury

Two of my favorite 50's cars. I voted tie. But damn, I like sooooo many 50's cars.😁

A rare tie for me. I simply can't decide. Neither are favorites, but both have pluses...and minuses.

Dodge for the easy win.  This year Mercury is IMHO the least attractive Merc ever made.

I vote TIE.

Not because I can't decide which one is nicer, better than the other, but rather both are over the the top gaudy with chrome, curves, and excess beyond my comprehension.  They make GM's '58s look clean and sleek.

The Dodge (like other Chrysler cars) with its raised roof in the front has always  looked misshapen to me.  The chrome on sides seems have been put on, just for the sake of putting chrome on.  And the fins were just too much!  Regarding the front-end, the grill and headlight design seems warped looking.

Now to the Mercury.  Again chrome it seems was added just for the heck of it and all over it.  And the tailfins seem to have been an after-thought.  Its top too, seems a little weird looking to me.  The only real plus I can give it, is that it doesn't look like a Ford.

Both look rather ugly to me, but then, I cannot sat 1959 was a banner year for American cars. The Mercury was my choice here. Interesting colours on this one.

The Mercury, while looking better than the '57 & '58 still does not appeal to me at all, love the '56 & next the '61, you can keep the '57 - '60.

For me the '57 DeSoto & the '59 Dodge are the best styled, of the C.C. fined monsters of the '57 - '60 period.  In '59 I would have bought either the 1.Dodge or the 2.Thunderbird or the 3.Pontiac.

These cars are so very different from one another it made me stop and think about what a wild but super interesting year 1959 was in styling terms.  Compared to todays designs the styling differences in '59 were like candy to young car freaks....and the colors....wow!

I loved that Dodge when I was 6 and at 72 I still do !  I love its styling and paint scheme, its front design and its tail lights.. I just love everything about it.

I voted Mercury, I’ve never cared for the Dodge.

Looking at all the cars for 1959, what a wild year for styles.
The Edsel looks almost sedate compared to the others.
