I was sure I'd pick the Oldsmobile, and I did, but the Chrysler gave it more of a run for the money than I expected.

Olds for me in early sixties, not so much for the Chrysler products.

This is a no-contest!  OLDSMOBILE STARFIRE!

The Chrysler was stripped of its fins and looks the worse because of it.  In my opinion after the beautiful '60 and '61 Chrysler's, the removal of the fins for '62 was way to drastic.

I’m going for the Chrysler in this pair. The Oldsmobile is a very nice car but my father-in-law had Chryslers throughout this time period and they were all, including his 1962, great handling road cars, comfortable over long distances and peppy. Great memories.

Two beautiful cars but the Chrysler is even nicer than the Olds in my eyes.

GREAT matchup today, John!

Having owned two 62 Starfires I guess I am somewhat prejudiced but my vote was much closer than I thought it would be. When the  wings were finally removed from the Chrysler I thought it became a magnificent car. Olds by the smallest of margins.

@bob-jackman, I agree. Add to that the incredible interior of the Chrysler with four bucket seats and a full-length center console, and that's where my vote landed. Still a tough choice, though.

Took me all of 2 seconds to decide the Chrysler. IMO, it's hands down more gorgeous than any '62 car produced... Except maybe for a Lincoln Continental.

I wussed out and voted tie. I love both body styles for totally different reasons. The Chrysler is clean and devoid of the massive use of aluminum on the side of the Olds. I like the grille of the Chrysler better. But the overall front end of the Olds is cool and the styling of the Starfire is, in total, more to my taste. I like the color better on the 300H - yeah, a tie for me.

Thank-you John. I don't think a better or equal interior and dashboard design appeared until the '64 Thunderbird. Just my opinion.

This one was very, very close for me.  I love the gorgeous Olds design and find the trim sets it off beautifully.  It is easily my favorite Olds ever made.  I love the Chrysler design this year much more than its shoulder years and always found the deletion of the tail fins made for a cleaner, contemporary look.  It is my favorite Chrysler of its decade and although I was only ten years old when it was introduced I have loved its look from my first viewing.  Comments have been made about its beautiful interior and I agree.  I would be extremely pleased to own either car but give the nod to the Oldsmobile by a nose.
