You surprised me today, John! Before looking at the pictures I expected to see GT Hawk vs. T-Bird, in which case I would have voted T-Bird. But upon seeing the fresh and daring Avanti pictured, the Studebaker gets my vote!
Good one (as usual) today, John!

Avanti!

I'd absolutely LOVE to own an Avanti. But I'd rather own this specific year of the T-Bird somewhat more.
Aarrrgggghhhh! You torture me, John! This is worse than "Sophie's Choice!" This afternoon, I'll go with the more scarce Avanti.

I go with the Tbird but that Avanti has a pretty cool look too. 👍

I vote for the T-Bird. Not because I like it, only because it's less odd looking than the Avanti.

Well John you did it this time. Several years ago I restored a 1963 Avanti in Avanti Gold and My Thunderbird Sports Roadster in Champaign. Two different types of cars but both were wonderful in their own way. The Avanti was a nimble performance car while the T-Bird is a luxury cruiser. Both were very difficult restorations but satisfying none the less. I can't pick one so it has to be a tie for me.
@bob-jackman, your comment above about your T-Bird reminds of the smile you have on your face in the TV story they did on your car collection. I believe you were driving your T-Bird. I could tell you were driving Heaven on wheels.

I have to go with the sporty and unique Avanti.
I went with Thunderbird. I used to like like the Avanti, not so much now.
@georgeschire Thanks George. Yes I still enjoy the Thunderbird. I too enjoyed the Avanti as it was a quick, nimble car and had factory A/C which made it nice for our southern climate. Unfortunately you can't keep them all. A guy saw the car at a show and asked me if it was for sale and at the time I was out of space and reluctantly sold it to him about eight years ago.
Never cared for the Avanti, but have always loved the 61-63 T-Birds. T-Bird it is.
I like how you said the sale of your Avanti came about.
Back in 1989 a lawyer (who's office was in the bank building I worked in) was an Oldsmobile lover. so he and I often chatted. He had one of his '62 Oldsmobile's, a Ninety-Eight hardtop out in the bank parking lot. Running in to him in the hallway, I casually said, "Lyle, why don't you sell me one of your cars?". To which he replied, "I'll sell you the one I have here today".
LOL, he told me that he only had an 8 car garage and he had 9 cars. I chuckled on that one. But he gave me the keys to the car and told me to take it for a short ride. I did and of course I came back and we made the deal.
This is me later that evening in that Oldsmobile.
As a side note, he also collected the 1:24 scale diecast models, so we had that in common too.

I like both but I like the T-Bird more. I never really cared for the 61 and 62. It's the 63 with that sculpted door design that does it for me.
