Both nice cars but I prefer the Chevrolet overall. Thanks for a good comparison, John.

I prefer the XL over the SS for its killer interior.   The '64 Chevrolet's flat front is my least favorite of the '60's Chevrolets.

I have loved the 64 Ford since I was a kid, and still due.

Pete nailed it exactly for me. They ruined the beautiful '63 Chevy design for this.🤦‍♂️

I hate it when this happens. But as I look at both, I remember how much I loved the Ford when it debuted for 1964; an edged roof line, clean front end and that super neat square ridge that runs the trunk's top panel.

Then I recall how much I loved the Chevy that year. The metal roof designed to look like a soft convertible top blew me away. The molded and straight-edged sides and clean throughout styling.

Sorry; gotta go tie on these babies!

Although the '64 Impala is more squarish looking compared to the Ford and also compared to it's Chevy shoulder years, I have always loved the look of it.  The Ford Galaxie is a very nice looking car but  IMHO it can't compare to the gorgeous '63 and '65.  Chevy Impala wins this one today.

The 64 Ford is one of my favorites, with it's rounded edges, slight fastback design and the shorter nose verses the 62-63 models.  Not to say that I do not like the Chevy as it is an equal contender. But my nod just barely goes to the Ford.

Amazing how two people can look at the same car and have a different opinion of it.  Your comment above, "they ruined the beautiful '63 Chevy design", is the exact opposite of the way I saw the '63 Chevy.  Of the early Sixties Chevy's, the '63 is my least favorite.  For sure in the eyes of the beholder.

I really like the Ford, but the Impala is my favorite of Chevy of the 60s. The Impala for me.

This "Which One?" is interesting for me today.  From an appearance perspective, I'm okay with both cars, but my vote goes to the Chevy.  However, if they were both '63's, I'd 100% go with the Ford over the Chevy.  From '61 to '65 for both cars, I had mixed feelings about each.

For those who care, here is how both years rank in appearance for me.

1961: Chevy over Ford (no-contest)

1962: Chevy over Ford (by slim margin)

1963: Ford over Chevy (no-contest)

1964: Chevy over Ford (by slim margin)

1965: Chevy over Ford (another no-contest)

'64 Chevy my favorite Chevy of the 60's. '64 Ford while not my favorite Ford is my choice today.

For me the Ford Galaxie wins every year '60 - '69. While I do like the Chevy Impala '61, '62, '64, no interest in the other years of the '60's.

I have always liked the 64 Ford.  The style has smooth rounded edges shape. I like The sleek almost fastback. Even in the picture it looks like it is getting ready to take over.  The Chevy although nice is a little to square for me
