Buick. It looks more substantial and appropriate to its market segment.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Both cars are good looking and sporty (in a full size kind of way) but the Buick looks elegant as well.  Buick for me.  Reverse order in '65 though.

Both nice for big land yachts. The Buick has just a dash more panache. Buick for me please.

I'm bucking the trend today. I always appreciate it when John gets us thinking about these, and he has certainly been on a roll lately! I'm going with the Mercury. I've always enjoyed the '64 Merc design, and that killer interior with those amazing bucket seats puts it over the top for me. The Buick is beautiful, and the interior takes a stab at being premium. But its uninspired dash and land yacht bucket seats just don't move me.

Much to my surprise, it is the Wildcat for me this time.

Yes the Buick looks more substantial, too substantial for my taste, on the verge of being a land yacht.  Mercury is my pick for today.

I definitely think that the Mercury is a lot sportier looking than that Buick so the Mercury is my choice. Steve

@brush The Buick weighs 4029 pounds while the Mercury weighs 4520 pounds. Looks can be deceiving.

@bob-jackman   My goodness you are right, and the Mercury is bigger; length 208 to 220, width 76.3 to 83.6 and wheel base 117 [same as the mid-size Dodge Coronet] to 120, sure faked me out. Still like the Mercury better.
