Pontiac by a mile, at the top of their game.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Not a thing wrong with the Mercury. It's a nice, large car. If that's your thing, excellent. The only small thing I can possibly find against it, is that it isn't a Catalina 2+2!!

Pontiac for the win John - WELL done sir!

Mercury because I like square and I don't care for Pontiac after '64.

This is rare for me.  A choice in the poll I have actually driven. My collage room mate had a 65 Pontiac and we drove it several times back and forth from Kansas to Colorado. It was fun to drive and a great ride. Driving through eastern Colorado on a rural twisting highway not doing 55.  😎

I really like both. But the Pontiac is not just a Pontiac. It's a 2+2!

I like the Mercury styling but it can’t beat the Pontiac.

I love the squarish styling of the Mercury and Ford in this era but this Pontiac is simply gorgeous....unbeatable.

Another Pontiac vote. That Catalina has style.

GM during the time period was knocking homeruns out of the park with every car they rolled off the assembly lines.  This PONTIAC is a GRAND SLAM!

The Mercury with its Ford "square box" body doesn't catch even a glance from me next to the PONTIAC!

@georgeschire Personally I loved pretty much all of the American car designs in '65 George; especially the fact that they were so very different from company to company....and even within divisions for that matter.  I sure miss those days!  Here are a few....
