There's that 'devil-may-care' spirit of adventure and 'throw-convention-to-the-winds' John that we all know and love. What a curve ball the ol' arm still has. Didn't see this one coming! OK. Dodge for me. Just because.
I voted a rare, "Sorry, no interest in this selection".
Back in the day and still today, to my eyes, two of the most butt ugly cars of the era. I'd walk before I'd own one.

The smooooth lines from front to rear. The folding head lights (brings back memories of the 40s and Desoto) and the taillights must have surprised car buyers. If I remember the commercials with the blonde model were attention getting. Not to mention the slogan “Your in Dodge Country.” Too bad the Marlin came so late in AMC history. I sort of like it. I watched a documentary on the fall of AMC through its history and the failed brands that built it. If I remember correctly it gave some history on the Marlin failing but I guess age is creeping in. I can’t remember what happened.
The Dodge has far better proportions.

@ed-glorius Totally agree plus the interior of the Dodge is outstanding with it's four bucket seats and full length console.
Both are pretty cool, but, I went with the Dodge as well.😊
I agree with most of you that the Dodge is better proportioned. That said, I choose the Marlin here with its unique and rare look.
You may be referring to the excellent 6 part series "The Last Independent Automaker". It's terrific and is well worth the time to watch it.

Two of my favorites. Love fastback design, but I have always wanted a 66-67 Charger, so the Charger gets my vote.
Two gorgeous mid-size fastbacks from the beginning of that particular design trend. As a kid, I saw the dreamcar design precursor of the Dodge Charger at the 1965 Chicago Automobile Show and it is featured in some publicity photographs I have from that era when Dodge was one of my Dad's clients.
I have replicas of the '66-'67 Charger, but my American Motors general mid-size muscle equivalent are somewhat later AMC's.
