For me it’s no contest… the ‘55 because I find the ‘57 too “gaudy” looking.

Steve, I agree, the TPC is over the top. Just curious though. If John posted a single headlight 1957 Mercury Montclair would your answer be different?
YIKES!! Now I won't be able to sleep!!
I'll take the exuberant spaceship 1957..

The 4 headlight thing looks like an afterthought, hanging on the fenders looking like they’re about to fall off. I like the 2 headlight version better but the 2 door post model is my favorite 1957 Mercury.

Two quite different yet really attractive Mercury automobiles. I have some 1956 SunStar Mercurys and the 4-headlights version of the Turnpike Cruiser by Yat Ming. The 4 or 2 headlight 1957 Mercurys are both good looking cars and in 1958 they were able to rationalize the front end, which was stylish, too.
Thanks Pete but no, that doesn’t change my mind. I just don’t care for the ‘57s styling. I find the ‘55 to be a more cohesive and visually pleasing style to me.

PS… I hate clowns.
Nineteen fifty five please John.
I voted a tie. I can’t seem to latch on to either one as a winner. To me the 55 ranks up there with bulkier cars for that period. Those heavy eyelids over headlights make it look weepy but I do like the color scheme. The 57 is a bit gauge and overdone. It is streamline like some cars from the period. It’s funny this really shows there is a style difference emerging through the 50s. I guess I have seen too many cars of that time with dual headlights coz the single headlight doesn’t appeal to me.
