I prefer the styling of the '61 by a very narrow margin over the '60 but both are really nice looking cars. I know many have commented that the '61 is basically a Ford body but this doesn't matter to me. The '59 is a very distant third; to my eye it is the least attractive Mercury made in the 1940 thru '70 range.
This was a no-brainer for me. THE 60! From grill to taillights it flows smoothly. The grill is straight and attractive and the taillights (not seen in photo) were one of the best designs of the era. It looks long and uncluttered with chrome.
For me the '59 is nice looking, but still smothered with chrome and with lines that don't seem to flow nicely.
And finally, the '61 is bland and sadly now looks like a Ford again. Though I will say the '61 Mercury is more attractive than the completely boring '61 Ford.

George....please reconsider Have a second look.....and it's in your favorite color too.
My vote goes to the '61 for its clean, trim looks. I like the other two as well, but the '61 sets a new course for the sixties. It doesn't bother me that Fo0rd and MErcury shared bodies and chassis. Everyone else had been doing it throughout the fifties. Almost all the manufacturers had two or three basic chassis and bodies but with different front and rear clips and, maybe, engines. Chrysler Motors was the king of this practice.

LOL, thanks for trying. Sorry, no reconsideration from me. I've never liked the looks of the '61 Ford. Didn't really care for the '60 either, but it was better than the '61. When '62 arrived, a good looking Ford was at hand again, and they followed it up with '63 and '64. But in '65 they lost their minds and the rest of the decade of Ford's left me disinterested.
