1961 brought a nice to me streamlined look. For the first time since 1957, I once again started to pay attention to Thunderbirds. I choose 1961.

I love the styling of the 61 T-Bird much more. I was stunned by the car when it was introduced; it made the attractive Squarebird look outdated. My fave T-Bird is the 55, then 57, then 61 thru 63, lastly 59; all gorgeous cars IMHO. After 63 my interest drops off big time though.

I have always loved the baby Birds, liked the square Birds, disliked the '61 - '63, and liked the '64 - '66, did not like another T-bird until the '87, '88 Turbo Coupe. However, over the years I have come to like the '61 - '63 but still not as much as the '58 - '60. See what age does to you.
