I have a MERCURY section on a wall in my garage, these are my Ad examples of Mercury's 1962 offerings. I've always been sad that they no longer had their own individual styling, they were back to looking like Ford's. But, I actually like their styling better than Ford's for '62.

I much prefer the 61 and 63 full size Mercurys to the 62, which I like well enough. The mid size Meteor for 62 is really a nice little car.
Funny how times and perspectives have changed; that nice "little" 1962 Meteor was 203.8" long, while my 2020 Dodge Charger, a large car by today's standards (the EPA says so), is 198.4" long.

Liked the car but, just could not get used to the tail light arrangement. By the flyer it would seem they were most proud of the rear design.

I know what you mean. I attended a car show a couple of years back and I couldn't believe how big a '65 Impala appeared. It was very similar to the car I had and drove for 5 years.

This generation of Mercury was never a contender in my book.

@moe-parr Hahaha......yes you are quite right; our perspectives sure have changed over the years. This is especially reinforced when a person views vintage Caddys and Lincolns at car shows; how did we ever drive them around town and park them?? Lol.
@moe-parr, You're right! And...your Mopar has more room!

I liked them, but my problem was they looked to much like Ford's. I liked it better when Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln all had their own identities. That was more of a reason to buy one of them over the other.
And as long as the parent company got the sale, it was a "win-win" for them and the buyer.

@moe-parr But i'll bet the Charger out weighs that Meteor by 500 pounds and is far far sturdier. People think that 'old' cars ['60s-70s] were such heavy behemoths but few topped 2 tons.
And I'll bet that Charger is waay more fun to drive!
I own three old cars that each weigh over 4,000 pounds...55 Imperial,63 Thunderbird Sports Roadster and a 1979 Continental Mark V.
