!955 you are 25 years old and you just came into some money and decided to buy a new [American] car for your everyday uses, what would be your top three choices be, in the order of the most desired.

For me:

Mercury

1955 Mercury Montclair HT 1024x900

Chevrolet

55 Bel Air (6)

Ford

55 fairlane (2)

Oh boy, it would be very hard to choose, especially in such an incredible year. But my family did get two new 1955 1:1automobiles and I would also be delighted with both of these : (1) A 1955 Chevrolet and (2) A 1955 Pontiac.

My dad bought a new 55 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible and if I could find one in decent shape, I'd be tempted to buy it today.

Subject to change at a moments notice, I'd start off with these three; 1955 Corvette, Lincoln Capri and the Chrysler 300.

@frank Frank, I would go with your 3 choices, but the MG would be 3rd with the T-Bird 1 and the Corvette 2

25-year old Moe Parr would have bought this sporty Pontiac 2-door hardtop in 1955:

108

I know Bob - I've known that all my life. But, D'OH, I originally had a Ferrari in this post and realized the post called for an American car. So before posting it I replaced Italian car with a MkII but put it in the wrong thread. I then changed this color MkII out with another in the '56 thread. As I say - D'OH!
