That’s weird, that same thing happened to me.
Not surprised.

HA! I don't get videos but the car has the 360 degree camera/warning & automatic braking system. It deployed once and I like it. But it also detects people ready to walk into your way. It detected one and did a warning on the Head Up Display. Shirl said, "The stupid thing, it's just a brick mailbox up there on the right." Just then a man stepped out from the side of the mailbox, saw us coming and jumped back. I smirked for a way too long time.
Yep! Practically no one turns their head anymore, they just put it in reverse and back-up. And if their vehicle does NOT have 360 view or side-to-side alert notification, they will back-up in front of you!
Over the past 10 years, I've noticed this disturbing and dangerous trend.... perfect for nuts like me with tremendous road-rage, but I'm getting tired of yelling & screaming. 😠 😠
I’m getting tired of clutter and bumps every time I back out of my driveway. My neighbours want me to reverse into my driveway, but I tell them, that is too dangerous.
I have cameras in all my cars, but I still keeping looking and turning around to back up.

+1. And Amen John! Far too old to change now!
"I still keeping looking and turning around to back up."
...yeah, but can you actually see anything out of your rear window? I suppose most "upright" SUVs still provide useful rear window views, but anything else is a crap-shoot! I still have a few cars.... forgetaboutit! 🙄 🙄 😯
@chris I embrace simplicity and a vintage MBz 300TE with more free window space than most modern cars, and three rear-view mirrors that serve me well. I also back into the driveway, for it is not the pedestrians which can cause an issue, but the drivers who all seem to believe they are on the race track, even on a narrow side street such as ours. (I will now refresh everyone's memory with the USA Consulate warning on their website: Germany has more accidents per capita than any other European country. Yup, even more than Italy or France.)
Four of my five cars are older and do not have all these gadgets like cameras. My wife won't drive them because of that.
When I was doing some driving before my stroke, I always turned around and looked out the back as I backed out. When many years ago, I was visiting a good friend and his family in Kensington, London, England, I nearly stepped off a curb I London and someone beeped their horn at me and I was reminded, traffic in Great Britain and some other European country's have the exactly opposite direction as we do in America ! I am no Winston Churchill, but he was visiting NewYork in the 1920's and was nearly killed when he stepped off a curb in the 1920s in New York, USA and was nearly killed by a taxi which blasted it's horn. History may have been much different !
