Today's entry is in keeping with the "Which Plymouth" poll. Found in the parking lot at the local park is this 1961 Plymouth Savoy four-door sedan in Maize yellow. This car is similar to the green one used in the 1966 movie "Hot Rods to Hell", a must-see movie IMO. Plymouth sold a total of 44,914 four-door Savoys in 1961. Contrast this with 51,384 in 1960, and 84,274 in 1959. Apparently, the Plymouth-buying public didn't take to well to the new finless Plymouths. It's nice to see a base-model survivor like this one on the road. The person who owns this one is probably a surfer judging by the racks on the roof. Car shows seem to bring out the upscale Furys from time to time. I will say that I've never seen a 1961 Plymouth Suburban in person. That would be a sight!

Nice nostalgia with that vintage poster ! When I was a kid I had a prized purple and cream 1961 Plymouth coupe. I think the old comedy series "Car 54, Where Are You ?" used a 1961 Plymouth 4-door police car for the stars.

Pete, good going, from where I'm sitting it appears to be in excellent shape. Hoping it drives as good as it looks. Loving the series...keep them coming. I'll keep an eye out for that movie.

@pete-rovero I never liked the front of that car, for it reminded me of the look far too often directed at me, by the school librarian. She could be ferocious, when the mood struck her.

My brothers and I loved that movie. Younger brother built a model of the Corvette from the movie.

For years I didn't care for the 61 Plymouth but I have changed my mind in recent years. In 1/43 scale I have a convertible, hardtop, four door sedan and station wagon.
