@grockwood You father did a credible job with his modifications; those halftracks look period-correct. It helps when modelers can say, "I was there." What better reference can there be? You, on the other hand, have MUCH work to do on your M4A1 Sherman tank - unless you're going for that Battle of the Bulge, winter-wash-look. 😉
