@chris @geoff-jowett @perrone1 @michaeldetorrice @david-green @100ford2003 Well, it is finished and the masking tape has been removed. Now, I can see two areas I want to touch up, which I can do with my pinstriping brushes. But, overall, I am chuffed at how well it turned out. As I mentioned earlier, I did mix the X31 (gold) with the X33 (bronze) to tone down both of them, so the outcome would be subtle and 'not-in-you-face,' as it may have been. My thanks to all of you for your support and I look forward to your points of view regarding the outcome.
The scratch on the left rear quarter panel came with the car and I haven't been able to fix it, even with the NOVUS kit. But, this was a car with which to experiment so I am not in a twist over that.
This repaint looks quite impressive. Your added touches should take it over the top. Thanks for sharing the process and your thoughts.
A really superb job on this one. It looks great !
Color breaks right where they should be, excellent choice of colors - FABULOUS job in my estimation!
Thank you, gentlemen. I have another 'damaged' bonnet I am eyeing and we shall see how it goes. I rather enjoyed this process, when all was said and done.
well done, that looks fantastic. Really impressed with both the color and how well the masking worked. No matter how hard I press the tape I always seem to end up with a bit of 'bleeding'. I can only see one tiny spot on the last pic. Thanks for the update. Really interesting post.
@geoff-jowett I need to touch up one area with 'underpant' and the area at the right rear, trunk lid is the overpaint I noticed. Is it the same part you saw?
I know this post is about compressors and Rolls Royces (nice paint job) but you also mention the Turbine Car kit. When I modified New Ray's fictitious Chrysler Turbine convertible I sprayed the finished model with Opel/Vauxhall Bright Copper over white primer. The result was pretty close to the colour Matrix used for the Turbine Car, and I have to assume Matrix did their best to match the authentic Turbine Bronze, so I think I wasn't too far off the mark.
A possible alternative I found was Ford Aztec Bronze which was a very similar shade but the metallic grain was more noticeable and over-scale. It might look OK on a larger model like the Jo-Han kit. Of course, neither of these colours might be available any more but there are probably quite similar updates out there.
Incidentally, it is worth experimenting with the primer colour. I tried the Opel Bright Copper with my usual grey primer and it didn't look quite right, a bit too dark, but with white primer it was much improved.

@geoff-jowett Yes, exactly. I was going to use a pinstripe brush to touch it up, but it might be best if I do a respray on that area, instead.
@graeme-ogg Thank you, and my post was primarily about painting, so your post is well within topic.
