(Pics) The railroad station and the parking lot

These two photographs were taken about 20 years apart at the railway station at my hometown of Riverside, IL. I can identify many of the cars in 1956, but I don't do so well in the 1936 scene. Today, of course, except for the automobiles, the view would be exactly the same !

great shots Mike. Love how so much creative design and effort went into producing a straight out utility use structure like a water tower.

I'll be darn. If you look REAL close, you'll see the same 5 dollar bill under the tree in the 1936 picture as well as in 1956. No one picked it up.

Lol, thanks ! Yes, the railway station and the water tower are still there and exactly the same by the triple-track Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe mainline west out of Chicago Union Station. I am not sure the automobiles are still around, but they deserve to be !
