what an amazing time capsule, thanks Mike
Great pics Mike....I like the pics of the Ramblers in particular.
Another set of incredible old photos!! Thanks Mike!
Thank you, all ! These old snapshots are certainly blasts from the past and fun to look at.
The giant truck that people are climbing the stairs to look at might be a Mack, and I am not sure whether they were his clients or his exhibit company helped set up the display. The others were his clients and they both designed and set-up their exhibits at the show.
taken at the 1959 automobile show at Chicago's International Amphitheater
Seeing those overhead crisscross beams, your Dad's pics were most certainly taken in Chicago. That's exactly what the International Amphitheater looked like during that time.
Then Chicago's International Amphitheater it is ! That was always a very cool place to see an automobile show and I recall Dad taking us to the famous Stock Yard Inn for a steak at lunchtime.
Great pics and subject Mike, thanks for sharing.
Brings back memories of the New York International Auto Shows from the 1960s. These where held at The Coliseum. What stands out were the gorgeous models, dressed in lavish gowns, pointing out the features of the new cars. Those gals could have sold ice cubes to the Eskimos.

Those are great memories of the New York Automobile Show ! I think later it may have gone to the Jacob Javits Convention Center and I know Dad was also involved with his clients set-up at that place.
One constant was the beautiful female models showing off the remarkable automobiles. The girls themselves were pretty incredible and had to be both gorgeous and highly qualified/professional to stand in front of multitudes of people constantly ..... no matter the leers or comments that might be said !
Yes in later years the Auto Show was held at the Javits Center and it's still held there. I been to many Auto Shows at Javits...last one I attended would have been about 20 years ago.
