'56 or '57 Imperial?

I prefer driving a smaller to intermediate car. The 56 really appeals to me. But on the other hand; if you are going to drive something 69 or 70 years old, you're essentially 'showing off', so I choose the in-your-face styling of the 57 with its bold brassy big screws, nuts and bolts!

It’s a tie. I find details on both cars interesting. First the colors of both cars are cool. Brooklin made a Chrysler wagon in that shade of pink and If I remember correctly there was a pink and white wagon in the movie “High Society”. The 1956 has a new blocked grill different from 55 and those taillights! I wonder if they broke off easily or maybe bent with pressure. The sleek 1957 has that cool roof design and tubular taillights. It’s length compared to some late 50s GM cars is moderate in my opinion (58 Buick and 59 Cadillac). The grill is the best of the late 50s Imperials. They got kinda big and clunky. Jury is still out on any car that went from single headlights to multiple. I guess it looks ok with single.

I love the style of the 1956. The 1957 looks like a bloated Chrysler.

For me the smaller size, the classy nose and the styling to makes it look more luxurious then the 57.

A good friend had a '55 Imp for years black with a red interior, he treasured it.
'56 please, the lessor of two evils, I just don't care for luxury cars. And to me the '57 is just plain ugly.

For me the smaller size, the classy nose and the styling to makes it look more luxurious then the 57.
The '56 has a 4 inch longer wheelbase and is 6 inches longer overall.

Both are beautiful automobiles and I would be delighted to drive either back then or have a scale replica of right now.
