Couple of beauties with very slight edge to the DeSoto! 👀👀

I also like the DeSoto better.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
It's remarkable how much they look alike. Similar nose, body lines, side chrome treatments, hub caps and trim rings. I'm not enamored by the Merc's fender skirts but I like its horizontal grille a little more than DeSoto's vertical styling.
I gave the nod to the Mercury, but only by a whisker.
I'm with Tony, with them looking alike in many ways. For me, it does come down to the GRILL, and my vote goes to the DESOTO.

Have to go with the Mercury because of it's V8 engine. Like the style of both.
DeSoto for me. It looks more hefty while the Mercury looks a little delicate for my taste.

What good-looking automobiles and from two makes that are sadly no longer with us. The blue shade on each car is great !
I agree both look great, but I went with the Mercury.
Two beauties, going with the Mercury for the V8 performance and exhaust note.

The exhaust note of a car is determined by a complex interplay of factors, including the type of engine, the design of the exhaust system, and the configuration of the muffler. At its core, the sound produced by a car’s exhaust is the result of air pulses being expelled from the engine at high speeds...
Exhaust note AKA the sound of the exhaust.
