'48 Mercury or Nash?

Mercury gets the nod by a slim margin for its more aggressive look, plus its trim and drive train superiority. I really like the Nash though; especially in this rare convertible form.

That Nash is just different/gorgeous enough, for my vote. But if spoken for, I'll gladly accept the Merc!!

Two beautiful vehicles. I have a slight preference for the Nashand would love it even more if it was painted the same as the Mercury.

Love the Mercury, but I voted for the Nash for its cleaner style.

For me, '48 was a tough year, style-wise. The market was going nuts; makers were having a hard time keeping up with demand, and it seems to me that design took a back seat. I find the front-end clips on many of the cars made that year (and in '49) to be a bit overwrought, as if they were trying too hard to make something new without spending too many resources. This explains much of why the early bathtub designs became popular. They were new and fresh and totally different from anything else. From my perspective, I never cared much for the bathtub designs, any of them. But I get their allure and acknowledge their place in design history. They broke the molds of the late thirties and early forties.
