I love the Merc. I just never warmed up to those post-war MOPARS.

Two of my personal all-time favorite Forties cars. For me, this is a virtual TIE! That "waterfall" grill on the DeSoto gives me goose-bumps and almost by itself makes it a favorite car of mine. And the Mercury is simply iconic. Period! Yup, a TIE!

Mercury wins this one easily. I love the styling of the '49 Mercury and prefer it over the changes done to it in the following 2 years.

As much as I like the DeSoto, the Mercury gets my vote. Awesome car.
