First off John, thanks, once more, for the hard work you do daily to entertain and keep us in tough choices - your massive contributions to the auto scene here do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
To own and drive but one of these, I'd have to opt for the Hornet Hollywood. In this cloak of two-tone blue, it almost makes the Olds look plain Jane.
I love both of these cars and based on the pictures supplied I was incline to vote a tie.....until I double checked the tail end and side view perspective, in which IMHO the Olds was much better looking. Another negative for Hudson was the split windscreen. Olds wins this comparison by a very narrow margin.
I'm with Jack on this one. I have never warmed to the design on those bathtub Hudsons. To me, the Olds speaks of more modern performance. However, I do appreciate what Hudson brought to the table regarding handling and the step-down design.

The Hudson pictured is the best looking model they built in the fifties but the Olds is also good looking and it has the V8 engine. Either would be welcome in my garage. Olds by a hair.

Back in the day I didn't find the bathtub design attractive and lumped Hudson in with Nash as odd looking. In the last decade or so I have come to like this era of Hudson much more but still do not care for the Nash. I prefer the tail end of the '52-53 Hudson of this era; the tail lights look much better than the '51 IMHO.
Harder decision than I thought!
The Step-down Hudsons are among my all-time favorite cars, and to my eye the '51 is the best-looking model year, so I did vote for it. But that Oldsmobile is "Super" nice!

I voted Hudson, to my surprise. I love its lowness and that it's sleek.

The Hudson is surprisingly attractive in hardtop form, but it's no match for the gorgeous Super 88 Holiday Oldsmobile with the OHV V-8 and 4-speed hydramatic transmission.
