Mercury, for its contemporary styling. The Pontiac looks a bit stodgy.

I agree that the Merc is more modern looking, but the Pontiac's color combo is so much more appealing that it gets my vote.

In spite of being a diehard Pontiac fan I have always loved the wholesale change done to the '52 Mercury, which set its beautiful styling for the next 3 years. The Pontiac is still really attractive but it looks a bit dated by comparison.

I'm with you all the way on this one Pete! The Mercury looks several years more modern than the bulky Pontiac.

I'm going with the Pontiac which shows substance and style, while the Mercury is just a warmed over Ford.
