The Buick is far more recognizable. I am much more familiar with the Roadmaster. But I think, at this stage of life, I'd prefer to own the Newport. Hence, my vote.
I'm choosing the conservative Chrysler too.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
In Canada, that Chrysler Newport was a sign of upper middle class success back in the early 1950s. The Buick represented more of a brash upstart. Not sure why people got these ideas.
David, my guess would be the Buick appears somewhat flamboyant than the more conservative Newport. In Canada, that Chrysler Newport was a sign of upper middle class success back in the early 1950s. The Buick represented more of a brash upstart. Not sure why people got these ideas.

I’m a sucker for ‘50’s Buicks, especially the early bulldog face models.
The Chrysler is conservative and classy; the Buick is to my eye more flamboyant and Euro styled. Years ago it would have been Buick easily but now I prefer the Chrysler styling....but it's very close to a tie today.
If the Buick was a Skylark there wouldn't be a tough decision. In this case, we have an engine decision to decide...the first year Buick V8 or the Chrysler Hemi...the Hemi takes it for me.
Based on style and more modern looking, the BUICK wins hands down! The Chrysler is big, boxy and looks like it got lost in the 1940's in comparison. The Buick has a "forward motion" look to it, that appears sleek.

Dayum, I've no interest in cars that are the same age as me and look that good 😊 Steve
I like the Buick. I don’t see too many of those early 50s Chryslers at the car shows. 😎👍

The Chrysler please, it looks like a car. While the Buick has lines & bumps every where, too busy for my taste.
I don't think I'm particularly brilliant, but I can see why they got those ideas, and I would concur. In Canada, that Chrysler Newport was a sign of upper middle class success back in the early 1950s. The Buick represented more of a brash upstart. Not sure why people got these ideas.
They are both beautiful 1950's American cars. I have a 1/18 Buick Skylark and 1/43 Chrysler Imperial from Brooklin and these are all favorites of mine.
The Motormax '53 Buick, in met. blue, is a favorite of mine. I was surprised when it became available and not sure why any other manufacturer didn't release a more detailed version. Steve
