Oh MY John, you continue to stretch the limits and propose tough choices!!

No wrong answers here - two beautiful mid-fifties automobiles. I love both and would be honored to drive either one, much less own either. By the smallest of margins, I vote Monterey, but it has to be in that color combo, warm and sensuous!!

I'll take the Oldsmobile. I love the "saddle bags" color separation of the rear fenders.

I went with the Mercury.  The Olds just looks like a boat out of the water.

I really like both of these cars but the styling of the Mercury is trimmer and sportier looking; it gets the nod.

I'm going with the Olds by the slightest of margins. If the Olds was a 98 it would win by a mile because of the color separation.

OLDSMOBILE.  It looks lower, sportier, and newer to the dated looking Mercury.

Bob, I used the Super 88 to maintain similar price points...the 98 would have well exceeded the range of the Monterey.

@sizedoesmatter I know why you chose the Super 88 and I agree that it was the correct model for comparison. I guess I was just talking to hear my head rattle.

I figured you knew my reason but I thought others here may not have known.

Bob, it's always a pleasure to hear what you have to say.

Love the '54 Mercury, actually I like the '52 - '56 Mercury s quite a bit more than the Olds of the same years. '57 is the first Oldsmobile I liked then skip to the '62.
