They're both in attractive color combos but no contest for me this morning. The Mercury 👍
I am with the rest of the crew this morning. Mercury for me!
Mercury. I'm not a fan of Pontiac until 1957.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
The Mercury with factory A/C is rare. I like both but favor the Pontiac because I took my drivers license test in my dad's 55 StarChief convertible which also had factory A/C.
A convertible with factory A/C now that's cool on different levels...The Mercury with factory A/C is rare. I like both but favor the Pontiac because I took my drivers license test in my dad's 55 StarChief convertible which also had factory A/C.

That Merc's A/C unit, as you know, is trunk mounted. The Mercury with factory A/C is rare. I like both but favor the Pontiac because I took my drivers license test in my dad's 55 StarChief convertible which also had factory A/C.
Air vents in rear fenders hint at the option:

The color combo is cool with Tuxedo Black over Yukon Yellow.
Mercury, can't beat the '54 - '56. Pontiac wait to '57.
Both are fantastic automobiles from the industries "big year" in 1955 ! I have scale replicas of the '55 Pontiac and '56 Mercury and my family had brand-new real 1:1 1955 Pontiacs and Chevrolets.
John, if I may sir; two observations. One minor/personal and one apropos to the thread.
The off-topic, but very interesting, mention of uncharacteristic A/C equipped convertibles got me to thinking. Living over 99% of my life in the American South, every convertible that I have owned, that was made in America, had A/C. The earliest, no where near this '55 Merc, was a '72 Corvette. Older English sports cars, going back to 1967, were not so equipped.
More germane to the subject, I find it interesting that both the cars you and I have posted are yellow '55 Montclair's, both with air. BUT, are obviously different ones. Yours, connected to Daniel Schmitt and the one I posted, to Adventure Classic Cars. Mine has the dreaded Conny Kit and appears to have a darker paint. Interesting, I thought!
