Final Answer: Ford, Chevy, Plymouth. I came close to going with a tie for first between Ford and Chevy but the Fairlane edged out the Bowtie by its rather long two-tone side breaks. Gorgeous!
Chevy, Ford, Plymouth.
The Chevy is a icon that changed everything, plus it looks great with its Ferrari-esque grille and terrific proportions.
The other two are lovely too.

1955 was a great year. In order, Chevrolet, Ford then Plymouth, but you really could not go wrong buying any of these vehicles.
Love the '55 Chevy, Love the '55 Ford[Tie], don't care for the Plymouth. By virtue of preferring the '56 Ford over the other two, I'll break the tie for '55 by voting Chevy for '55 since the Ford wins for me in '56. I would have bought a Mercury in '54, '55, '56 though.
I have to agree with most. The Chevy and Ford are so close, but I decided on the Chevy, as the 55 was my favorite out of the tri series. Ford second, then the Plymouth.
I will go with the flow as well and vote Chevy, Ford and Plymouth in that order. The '55 Bel Air is my fave car of its class in this decade. The Ford is a strong second place and Plymouth a respectful third, given the stiff competition it faces in this comparison.
All three are classics and favorites of mine. However, in head-to-head comparisons, the CHEVY edges the other two out handily. Of the "Tri-Five Chevys", the '55 is my favorite. I do like the '57 Chevy dashboard much more than that of the '55 and '56.
As for the '56 Ford, I like it better than the '55, as they did a nicer job with the grill, parking lights, and dashboard on it. And I like the '56 Ford much, much more than forthcoming '57 Ford.
And the third place Plymouth, to my eyes, the '55 is the star of their next two years. They ruined the rear-end with huge pointy fins on the '56 and for '57, I think their styling was way out of touch for my taste.
So for today, 1) CHEVY 2) Ford 3) Plymouth.

Three great rides. For me it's the Chevrolet first since I had one back in the early '60s. Close behind is the Ford, followed by the Plymouth.
Gents, thanks for the pics and responses.

Chevy is my pick for number one and tie between the Ford and Plymouth for second.
