Wow this is really tough John. As usual you accomplished your goal of giving me a hand wringer even down to the colors. Both cars are beautiful and IMO desirable. I'm going with the Buick and it's imposing stance.
The Lincoln doesn't have the cachet it should for its market position, but I like its subtle styling and proportions better.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I prefer the trimmer looks of the Lincoln. Nice wheels on that Buick.
Without question the more modern looking BUICK. Even as a kid in the 1950's when I'd see a '55 Lincoln, I wondered how or why FOMOCO neglected to bring the styling forward as they did with their Ford and Mercury. The Lincoln as the advertised top tier car of the company, looked old and stodgy compared to its siblings and those of Chrysler Corp. and General Motors.

Buick gets the nod today. Its styling is more striking and attractive than the Lincoln, which is a nice looking car but it has an identity issue; it's too similar to the Mercury. This got resolved in '56 though with its beautiful new and unique design.
In this color combination I will go for the Buick with its front end that says I'm coming to get you.
Love the Buick too, but it just can't stand up to the Lincoln for me.

Close. Darn close. I could go either way and make an argument for each but in the end it came down to the wheels - of the Roadmaster. BUICK!
Not fond of either, I prefer the Lincoln. Wheels & colors can be exchanged on either of them, I don't judge by the pics presented.
Another toughie! I'm going with the Lincoln for the extra dab of luxury over the Buick. But they're close!

Buick for me. My grandfather had a 55 so, nostalgia. But, I'd still pick the Buick.
Don't care for either one. There are other makes in 1955 I like.
@whodeytink Nostalgia for me also Mark, my first car was a Buick 3 holer. I really did like that behemoth!
Imagine two new-car buyers in 1955 driving them home from the dealership and pulling these two beauties into their respective driveways at the same time. Which one would all the neighbors flock to first to take a gander at? I'm gonna go with the Buick!
