As Barry stated above, in 1955 the Imperial was no longer listed a Chrysler Imperial however the 331 ci. hemi engine still had the Chrysler name on the heads.
That could be looked upon as a Chrysler CORP. engine, rather than Chrysler division...

Caddy, Imperial, Lincoln. The '56 Cadillac had an appropriately imposing elegance that the others didn't have. The Imperial was a good looking car but seemed like just a higher trim line Chrysler IMHO, and not a luxury leader. The Lincoln's styling of that period looked futuristic but lacked any gravitas.
The real luxe premium American car was the sadly bypassed Continental MKII despite, or perhaps because of it's British coach-builder's styling cues. It could have been a Mulliner or Park Ward design. Even today these are auctioned for less than what some people expect. If I only got on board with Bitcoin.
