OLDSMOBILE without hesitation.  It looks newer, lower, sportier, less boxy, and even somewhat customize with its chrome and grill.  And the dash was to die for.  In my opinion one of the most beautiful dash's of any car of the fifties.

Oh yea, OLDSMOBILE for me!

The Packard for me.  It is just sleek and looks like it is flying down the highway just sitting there.

Love both, voted Olds. Growing up, I was far more familiar with GM, Ford & Chrysler products than Packard.

Like them both, but George screaming at us with such passion, I'll vote Olds. I love the chopped top look it has.

The '56 Olds is not as good looking as the two previous years; IMHO the grille is a styling disappointment.  I like the crisper look and nicer trim of the Packard.

We are opposites, '56 is the first year I would consider buying, did not care for any Olds before and the '57, the Olds I love.  The Packard is over done for my taste.

I vote Oldsmobile because it is a Ninety Eight. The side trim on the Eighty Eights was not as balanced as it was on the Ninety Eights IMO

LOL, that "screaming" as you referred to it, is what I would have done as a 5 years old kid when I saw a '56 Oldsmobile.  A neighbor bought one in the two-tone blue color combo and I was nuts for that car.  I loved the "big mouth" grill, the elongated bullet taillights and then (as I said above) the dash was incredibly beautiful.  There was not an Oldsmobile from 1953 through 1959 that I didn't like.

Interesting that you say "the 56 Olds is not as good looking as the two previous years".  I'm just the opposite.  Though I love both the '54 and '55, I think the '56 combined the best of those previous two years and the '56 was perfect.

We can agree that the dash of the '56 is beautiful though George!

Yep, it's the winner for me too.

Sorry Oldsmobile. You are nice for a brief spin but Packard is my choice for a lasting relationship.
