The '56 Olds is not as good looking as the two previous years; IMHO the grille is a styling disappointment. I like the crisper look and nicer trim of the Packard.
Interesting that you say "the 56 Olds is not as good looking as the two previous years". I'm just the opposite. Though I love both the '54 and '55, I think the '56 combined the best of those previous two years and the '56 was perfect.
We can agree that the dash of the '56 is beautiful though George!
Thanks for the Dash pic Jack. Back in the 1950's, dashboards were things to look at, and this one (in my opinion) is "the best" looking dash of an '50's American car.
Two of the better looking American cars for 1956. Both were available in some tasty color combinations. As the years have passed, I think the Packard looks more distinguished. Also (and this is a biggie) Packard's 'Torsion-Level' suspension offers a superb balance of ride and handling for such a big car. Ever drive one? I figure that even today the ride might surprise some folks. My vote goes to Packard.
