Today I'm voting Mercury for its color, its wood, and its sheer outrageousness. Tomorrow might have been different.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I quite like that traditional 'woody' style Mercury.
Well, I like the styling of the Mercury over the Buick in '57, so I vote Mercury. The top styling of the Mercury wagon looks so natural compared to the Buick's, that looks like it was added on.

To my eye this remains, essentially a 1954 Buick look. Simply in terms of trend - and that meant a lot in the 1950s - Mercury wins hands down. The colour and paneling is the cherry on top.
@georgeschire I have to agree with you George. The Buick looks like it had a mod and it should not be there.

Aside for the wire wheels which I include from time to time, what would that mod be?

To my eyes, the "mod" look for the Buick comes from the way the rear side windows are. They look "added on" from the roof-line over the trunk. While the Mercury's top seems to look natural.

This was a difficult choice for me as I dearly love hardtop styled station wagons and both of these are favorites. In high school I dated a girl whose father had a Buick like the one shown and sentimentality leads me to vote for it.
I voted tie cuz I can't decide which one I like better. Both of them are beautiful to me.

Two favorites, but it's the classic styling of the Buick that gets my vote.

@sizedoesmatter Exactly as George mentioned. The rear portion of the station wagon just looks like someone pasted it to the body. It just does not flow smoothly.
