1958 was a recession year in the U.S., so that was tough on automobile sales. Both of these cars looked great to me so it is too bad sales weren't better for these and other autos that year.
I would love that Citation in my garage along with the DeSoto. Not being a fin fan, I'm going with the Edsel.
Tie for me, I love 'em both.😁🤑
DeSoto by a mile. Just look at it!
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I rank Edsel with the other '58's I don't like, Olds and Buick UGLY.
One of the two DeSoto s I like the most, the'57 & '58.
I’m conflicted on this choice. I am a fan of all DeSotos and despite the fins, I really like this one. On the other hand, I support Edsel as a brand really unappreciated. I am going with a tie here.
I'm going with a rare TIE. Though I like the Edsel a little better than the DeSoto, I'm supporting both cars because if things had worked out differently with the economy and the Detroit bean counters, both could still be exciting us today.

I voted a tie coz I will always support Mopar even though I’m not crazy about the grill.
I give the Edsel a vote cause It was introduced at a bad time and the grill is off putting. I actually saw one in the 1960s. A couple from New York visiting family. I remember walking past it asking what is it.

Always to my eyes, the '58 Edsel was the styling leader of the Ford company line-up for that year. 1) EDSEL 2) FORD 3) MERCURY 4) LINCOLN
