I love cars of all types and descriptions. But this masterful choice quiz readjusts my mindset. It isn't so much of which one I like the best but which is least offending - LOL!
Going with the Edsel thank you!!
I voted Dodge. Like Tony, to me neither is well realized.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Edsel please John, in celebration of a lost cause.
'58 the year I believe most American car styling left a lot to be desired. The only car I can think of that I like is the T-bird and then only the convertible.
Today's choices are a tie for me, both too far out for my taste.
I went with the Dodge on this pairing. If you would have had the Chevy then it would have been my pick.
I much prefer the Dodge styling and colors offered in '58; though it has taken many years to come to that appreciation. I have to keep in mind that this styling era was overstated, wild and crazy and appreciate it for its uniqueness in automotive history. The main thing I like about the somewhat outlandish styling in '58 was the fact that each car company's offerings were so very different from one another. Personally I think that GM did by far the best styling job on most of their products (except Olds and Buick); but I have to say that car styling of the mid 50s was IMHO more attractive.
I can't change my vote, but after some thought [I drove both cars as used] I do much prefer the Dodge. 410 cu in push button in the center of the steering wheel replaced with Mercury unit mounted on the dash, and the 361 cu in could out perform the 410 and the Dodge 361 handled/road better. I tied them earlier only looking at the pics presented, something I don't usually do.
The 58 Edsel is often criticized for it's far out design. I ask everyone to take a close look at the bumper and grill on the Dodge...Edsel looks conservative by comparison. Edsel.
A longtime fan of the '58 Edsel. Love the styling and some of the new features. Recall visiting the dealership with my older brother on reveal day.
Gents, thanks for your responses.
