Only since we owned a white '58 Buick Special Convertible, do I vote for that one.

I have to vote Mercury. In some ways I like the Buick as underneath all of that chrome I believe lurks a nice looking car. Maybe I'm being unfair as I still can't forgive Buick for turning a beautiful 57 into the 58.

I believe each of those chrome cubes had to be screwed into place individually, so they 'floated' independently. It's a masterpiece, but terribly let-down by the poorly thought trim on the side. '58 was the heyday of the baroque medieval knight on wheels, but that is no excuse. It has to be Mercury,  despite Buick's beautiful grille.

Mercury, but only because the Buick is overwrought.

Buick for me. It looks more "substantial" to my eye.

BUICK!  With the exception of Cadillac for '58, I think GM's Chrome-Mobile's are gorgeous works of art.  I like the Mercury too, but when given the choice between the two, give me the keys to the BUICK.

The only 58s I like are the T-birds and Corvettes.

I hate to sound negative but I voted a tie this time; neither car appeals to me at all.

And I really like each of them, so I also voted a tie. Beautiful vintage Fifties American automobiles !

I would add the 58 Impala to those two.

I voted Buick although to much side chrome.  The Merc look awkward to my eye.  👍👨‍🦳

@grockwood, I too, like the Thunderbird for '58.  But the Corvette, sorry not a fan.

I loved the '57 Mercury, the '58 not so much. I voted for the luxurious '58 Buick Special.

@jack-dodds: I agree, Jack, there is little about either of these cars that I like.
