Edsel may have been on the way out, but I do prefer the lines to that of the Lancer.

Today's choice features two cars that don't catch my eye at all if I see one or both at a car show.

The '59 Edsel was just a shell of the unique and gorgeous '58 version.  I always shake my head seeing one.  What happened?  I know the '58 arrived at a bad time, but with the '59, it was evident that FoMoCo wasn't going to try even a little bit to make the Edsel a success.

They made the '59 version nothing more than a cheap looking Ford.  It's just a sad story, that seriously could have had, with even just a little effort, a chance that it could have succeeded.

As for the '59 Dodge, though not a favorite, I'd rather have it parked in my driveway than the Edsel.

No contest for me...the Dodge !

I love the front eyebrows over the headlights I love the way the sides sweep back to those fins and the tail lights and look at that beautifully shaped windshield as opposed to the windshield on the Edsel.. that just steals my heart away. And, the Dodge, IMO, has a more gorgeous sweeping roofline.

Dodge was my least favorite of the ChryCo lineup for 1959, but still far ahead of that Edsel.

'58 & '59 are the worse years for styling of American cars. Dodge & Thunderbird were the only 2 I liked.

The poor Edsel, I love to see them today, but compared to the '58, they are bland. The Dodge is not one of my favorite cars, but it definitely is the sharper looking of the two.

The '59 is my favorite year of Edsel; IMHO its styling is a bit more conservative; especially that grille.  The '59 Dodge is pretty good looking but to my eye too flamboyant and overdone; especially the tail lights. I much prefer the two previous years.  With that said, if I had to choose one to own I would go with the Dodge by a nose....if I could find one that wasn't a rust bucket.  I recall in my area how early the '59 Dodge and Plymouth rusted out.
