A tough call given the Cadillac is among the most iconic cars of all time, whilst the Imperial is possibly more subtle.  I would go for the Cadillac.

Those Cadillac tail fins might be iconic but I prefer the more sedate and understated Impertial.

Cadillac because it's an icon, but also because a friend treated me to top down ride in an exact replica. Snow on the ground, sun out, Lake Michigan to our side. Great memory.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

I can't decide, been thinking about a bit. I think both cars are exceptional and all they could be. Both are a perfect end to the excesses of the 50s.

Both are too big, too gawy, so different they are ugly to me.  I prefer cars that can almost handle not sail down the highway's as I drive on twisty, hilly, 2 lane highways for N.H. & Maine, no Interstate within 50 miles to sail down or up.

In the eyes of most, Cadillac wins out because of the exposure it's received over the decades.  Not saying it wasn't earned, but in the shuffle, a nice car like Imperial gets lost.

That said, I vote for the Imperial because of the rarity.  It was a car of luxury and in its day said that you had arrived.  And it's also that rarity that I find intriguing.  If I'm driving the Cadillac, I'm going to get noticed, but I'm also going to be noticed along with the other ten people that are driving the same Cadillac.  In the Imperial though, that car is going to be noticed because it's different.

I like the different aspect over the iconic aspect.  Imperial for me please!

I  choose the Cadillac.  The '59 Imperial has an awkward and busy front end.  I prefer the toned down 1960 Imperial, looks more elegant to me.

My sentiments exactly, @Pete Rovero.  As much as I love chrome, the '59 Imperial front end looks too heavy & toothy.  I much prefer the '60 front design.  To me, it seems to have a sneering yet elegant "don't mess with me Cadillac and Lincoln" expression. 😉

I chose Imperial even though I really dislike the coarse looking grille.  The 59 Caddy is a car I just cannot like, no matter how hard I try to relate it to the excess styling of that era.

Wow George you must have a lot more collector cars in Minnesota than I thought to see 10 people driving 59 Cadillacs in this day and age.
