I might be the only voter for the Firedome. I like the Pontiac but always wished that it had a little less gingerbread on the sides and was always unsure of the twin fin design out back.

The DeSoto is clean and sleek.

Great job in finding these two in like colors John!!

@perrone1 Tony, I feel the same about the twin fin on the Poncho.

You are not alone. I like both, but the DeSoto looks better.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

I'm in with the rest of you.  DeSoto for me as well.

I love the twin fin on that Pontiac, also first year for the wide track and that 389 engine; no contest for me…Pontiac!

Tie for me today.  Both nice cars for '59, there were no car styling in '58 or '59 that really did something to make me want to buy any car. I probably would have bought a T-bird or the Dodge or kept the'57 Pontiac I loved or waited for '60 to get the only Buick I loved.

'59 was the year GM caught up with the long and lower stance the MOPAR gave its Forward Look autos in '57.   I do fancy Pontiac's split grille in '59 but overall it doesn't surpass the clean shape of the Forward Look DeSoto.   De Soto 4 me!

Neither are favorites of mine but the wire wheels on the DeSoto give it the edge for me.

For '59... Impala....lol, ok, ok.... I've said it enough times here... I 💓that Pontiac tonight. The DeSoto is nice too. But not nice enough.

Addendum here,

I chose the Pontiac because I absolutely love the front end over the DeSoto. I don't mind the rear end design of the Pontiac either. By then in '59 fins were on their way out. I like the way Pontiac designed the backend. It was different from most styling. As a 6yr old I thought it was space-aged styling even though I'd never heard that term. All I know, is that I was born in '53 and I got to grow up with some of the BEST cars ever built and designed.. I'm sooo thankful for these decades. IMO, almost everything now is garbage. 👎
