I went with the Buick on this one, but it was not an easy choice. To my eye, they're both beautiful cars.

Exactly ^^
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I'd pick Buick over Mercury 95% of the time but for 1960 Mercury hit it out of the park styling-wise (especially those taillights!) so The Big M gets my vote today.

I went with the more conservatively styled Mercury but it is very close.
I prefer the overall look of the Buick but I do like those Mercury tailights. 👀👍

HAD to go with the 'Deuce and a Quarter' - we owned one in '60.
For this comparison, I had to play the "reversal game". It goes like this...
For 1960, I vote the MERCURY. But if it were the same comparison for model year 1959, I'd vote the Buick.

Same for me George; the '59 Mercury was the least attractive Merc ever made IMHO.
Mercury all the way for me on this choice. If you drove that Buick, did you notice how susceptible to cross winds, that design was?

I've never considered winds to be nasty or mean. 😁
I didn't even have to see pictures of the two before deciding the Buick. I think the Buick is fantastic looking. The Mercury is too conservative and sedate looking for my tastes.

I don't like Buicks in general, the '60 is the exception. Buicks I actually like, full-size '60 & '61; mid-size '64 & 65.
I used to prefer the 59 Buick but recently the 60 Buick has became my favorite. The 63 Mercury was the first year I started to like Mercurys

Fascinating! Is this a known issue? Has anyone ever figured out why?
