I love both cars equally although they are so very different. The Bullet Bird styling is gorgeous and got prettier every year '61 thru '63. The Studebaker styling is of course based on an aging design but this era is even prettier than earlier years and at this point is something different than the rest. I just cannot put one over the other...so it's a rare tie for me.
The Studebaker is so elegant, definitely the better looking. But it's on 1953 mechanicals and the Thunderbird looks great too. So a head vote for the Thunderbird even if the heart disagrees.

Two birds, but they don't flock together. One is a hawk, the other a Thunder-bird. My mom would have chosen the T-Bird and shunned the non-US car. But Mom, it's a Studebaker - made in America. I don't care, it LOOKS foreign.
Change the cars colors and I might change my mind; but in red, I'm voting for T-Bird!
Not one of my favored T-birds, roadster like Bob's I like [convertible], hardtop just doesn't look right to me. I am not fond of Studebakers, but the '62 is beautiful. TIE today! 😋
The Studebaker Hawk has been a car I've liked since it was new with it's Mercedes like grill and toggle switches dash controls. The third configuration T-Bird was right on from the start and got better each year (61 through 63) as Jack points out. I know I'm prejudiced but I have to go with the Thunderbird but the Studebaker would certainly be welcome in my garage alongside of the Thunderbird.
What an incredible pairing! I've always been drawn to the Hawk. But, compared to the T-Bird, it takes second place. I'm with Tony, that red is perfect for that car.

Neither gets my attention although the Studie looks more sculptured than the T-bird which looks like a boat to me. I often wonder what the Bird’s ride was like especially over the snow. Sleigh ride like.
Studebaker please John. The Gran Tourismo is one of my favourite American vehicles, owned since new by a friend’s family.
I have always love the 61-63 T-Bird as they finally gave it some shape. After the 57 when they went to a 4 seater, I did not care for them, but when 61 rolled out I took a liking to them again.
@carsman1958, I really like the '58-'60 T-Birds. But that 61 bowled me over. That was the beginning of a lifelong infatuation for me. I even liked the 1980 version. The exterior didn't knock me out. But I had a friend who bought one, and the interior was a gorgeous example of eighties kitsch.

Two beautiful and quite different (certainly styling-wise) automobiles ! "Where were you in '62 ?" ...well if it was behind the wheel of one of these, I'd be happy and proud !
Both are beautiful but I am a passionate T-Bird nut so my vote is T-Bird. February 1963 Dad took me car shopping and we went to Ford to see a 1963 Galaxy 500 XL sport roof. On the showroom floor was a 1963 T-Bird hardtop and previously I had shown Dad pictures of 1961-62 T-Birds. One look at that 1963 Bird, I climbed in the back seat, Dad bought it. It was my first car when I turned 16, early 1967, and OMG to this day I love the Bullet Birds.
The Thunderbird is amazing, but the Hawk gets my vote. So distinctive.
