Neither one really rocks my boat, but the DODGE wins out for the better looking grill and headlight arrangement. Being totally honest, I'd have been in the General Motors camp if I were to buy a new car in '65.

My 1st no interest. I just dont care for either.😲
Dodge for its grille, hardtop, and swage lines. Taillights too.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
They might not be the best looking cars, but I chose the Dodge. It has the best overall stance and look.
I like this comparo. They are closely matched enough that it takes some thought to decide between them. I'm going with the Dodge for being a bit more stylish than the Mercury. From the perspective of the interiors, for me, it's a toss-up. The Dodge gets the nod for a better looking exterior.

I really like the look of the '65 Mercury. The squarish styling given to most of the Fomoco lineup was a refreshing change and so different from other car companies, which was a good thing. The roofline of the Mercury really appealed to me as well. The full size Dodge styling throughout the 60s was always a step behind IMHO; although I suppose the '65 was the best looking one of its decade.
Dodge for me. I never liked the squared off look of the Mercury as being too harsh.
Not my favourites, preferring GM that year. Slight edge for the Dodge styling.
Interesting. I think this is one of the few times with John's "Which Ones?" that the overall consensus is that neither cars is overwhelming appealing. And of course I concur. But kudo's to John, for the excellent comparison!

Love the Dodge, liked the Mercury in '65. Against most here I totally dislike all GMC full-size offerings '65 up. Back up one year to '64 and I like GMC over Dodge or Mercury.
I went with the Mercury. 65 was a good year for Mercury and Ford products with the squared off styling.
Both are goodlooking cars inside and out but I chose the Mercury because Dad had a '66 Parklane when I was in H.S. and I absolutely loved it.

The full-size 1965 Dodge was their return to a, well, real full-size platform. Dodge was a client of my Dad's and our family had a 383-2bbl powered Dodge Custom 880 station wagon.
