I owned the previous year's Cyclone GT. By sixty-eight, neither of these cars were as 'hot' as previous models but I like the Merc a touch more than the Gee-To.

The Mercury is a nice design but I still have to go with that superb GTO.

Close call for me. But I like the fastback styling of the Cyclone. I also like the nicer interior of the Merc.

John and Tony, I am with you on the Merc.  Overall I believe it to be just better styling.

Years ago I would have picked the GTO without hesitation but Today I'm going for the Mercury by the slightest of margins. A friend has a 1968 Torino 428 Super Cobra Jet which I have driven and came away super impressed.

Loved '65 - '67 GTOs but disliked '68 up. Hence the Mercury wins today. I much .prefer the Dodge line up in '68

Bruce, I intentionally omitted the Charger from this compare since we all know it would have been the sure winner.

GTO for me too. The Merc is nice but I couldn't live with its roofline.
