More of a dilemma than I might have expected.

Overlooking the 'shut lines' on the Mercury (Look at the front hood edges as they meet the front fenders), and overlooking the vinyl roof of the Buick (A personal quirk born of two ownerships with peeled vinyl due to rust) I surprised myself a little and went with the Real Stage One - Buick.

Thanks for the 'which car' John - love ya brother!

@perrone1 Agreed Tony this was more difficult than I thought and either would be welcome in my garage. Based  on color the Mercury would win but based on past ownership experience the Buick takes it.

Buick for me too. A college friend borrowed his father's car, it was identical to this, and I got to drive it. Luxurious and powerful!

I can remember a time when you never wanted to get stuck behind a Buick, it was either a doctor or an octogenarian couple. Try to keep up with this one! The ‘70 GM “A” bodies are works of styling art in my opinion. Having owned a ‘70 Goat I can also attest that they handle great and can scoot.

I also voted for that very handsome Buick. Here's Brooklin's replica (without a vinyl top, just how you like it, Tony!)

No interest in either one.  Too many choices I like much better in '70, the Chevy better than the Buick & the Ford over the Mercury & the Charger over all 4 of them.

Barry, that's a nice example of a diecast GS...looking extra fine in silver. Speaking of vinyl tops, pardon me if I said this before, I had a '70 Lemans for 7 years, sold it to my next door neighbor who had it for 5 more years. It was never garaged, no signs of rust after 12 years of NYC weather.

John, thanks this wasn't an easy choice.

I like both but I'm giving a slight nod to the Merc. I prefer it just a little bit more. I guess I'm one of the other odd men out here in that only two of us chose the Merc.

Steve

Lol, I went back to check the poll and I guess I'm the only one that voted for the Merc after all !

I had several cars with vinyl tops back in the day and never had an issue either. I like vinyl tops in 1/43 as well - it's very period correct. My Brooklin '67 T-Bird and Buick Wildcat 4-doors both have one.
