TUFF! I like them both! The '53 is more traditional and for me, today, it wins the contest. But that '54 is awfully nice too!
I prefer the styling of the nose, tail end and wheel arches of the '53 by far. but the '54 is a very cool car as well.
I like the squared up look of the 1954.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I still remember seeing the 53 for the first time and thinking it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. My other memory was receiving a promo of the 54 and watching it twist and turn into a distorted mess. Thankfully, over the years there have been quite a few of each year done in model form in various scales which I have managed to collect. The 53 still holds my attention for being one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen. 53.
@bob-jackman Back in 1959 was when I first saw the '53 Skylark up close. It was a gorgeous yellow with no connie thankfully and I thought it was stunning. It was the only one of its kind I ever saw in my home town as a kid, so I assume they were hard to come by. It was the same as the pics below except as I recall it had green interior.
.
I love the '53 and find it very difficult to believe that it is 72 years old 👍 That is one dayum goodlooking Buick.
No interest in either car. Just don't care for Buick styling.
I just never warmed to these Buicks back then. Too much tooth and oversized.
'53 for me. The '54 is proof that not all changes are for the better.
P.S. My very first car ride in my life, home from the hospital when I was born in 1955, was in my parents' '53 Buick Special 4-dr. sedan.

The '53 for me, I've never cared for the overall look of the '54. All those curves and dips are much sexier. The '53 has a presence that the '54 is trying too hard for.

I think that both Buicks are very beautiful cars. 50s is my favourite epoque in auto history. Detroit barocco is so magnificent that all cars of that period are dignified to be reproduced in 1/43 scale.

Easy one today. THE '53. Those goofy looking cartoon cut-out wheel wells on the '54 are a major distraction for me. While the '53 oozes with styling age perfection.

The classic '53 for me but I like the '54 too.
Gents, thanks for your responses!
