A lot of responses with no interest.  But that is not the answer as the question is....If you had to choose from one of the two as the only models that existed, which would you choose.  I might not like either one as well, but I had to go with the 61.  The 60 with the tailfins are just to over the top for my liking.  So maybe take another look and pick again.

@carsman1958 Well.....I have never used it myself....but there is the "sorry, no interest in this selection" option offered by Mr. Bono; so I guess he expects a certain amount of such a response.  Maybe he uses this category to help in choosing the awesome categories and cars within each one that he offers us each day.

@carsman1958 John, sometimes we don't have the time to consider which they like best and select "No Interest.." just to move on...not an issue for me.

My take on John's daily "Which One?" is that it's our opportunity to share are own personal thoughts, positive or negative on the cars he shares the photos of.  Each of us is different with different sets of eyes, and none of us will ever totally agree on every car.

A beautiful car to one person may be an ugly car to another, but it's not intended to be a personal attack on John or those of us who share those opinions.

I know that regarding Corvette's I'm in the extreme minority on not liking them, any of them, regardless of the year.  I honestly think they are goofy looking cars, but that in no way should be taken by anyone who is ga-ga in love with them, as a personal attack on them.  The bottom line is that for all of us who participate each day on the "Which One?" exercise, we all need to be able to "like or dislike" a car without being chastised.

Remember beauty, or lack thereof, is in the eyes of the beholder.

I really like each of these and have had replicas in 1/24 or 1/18 of them.

I like both but would definitely prefer the '60 in my garage. I 💗 the front fender treatment, the fins / taillights and the toilet seat cover. If I'm not mistaken I believe the '60 has those swing out front seats as a neat feature.

A late response to this post.  Both are fun in their own way, and both are stylistically flawed in their own way. The fins on the '60 were definitely OTT and the contrasting colour "hook-back" on the front flanks was awkward-looking.

I really like the sharp rear end on the 61, although it would have been smoother-looking without the central "fin" on the trunk lid. I think the front "eyebrows" were much disliked back in the day (they don't look too bad from some angles in some colours but can sometimes look really heavy-handed.) I just wondered how the '61 would have looked if they had applied the same sharp-edged look they used on the tail.

1961 Plymouth conv edit

I think it kind of works, but for better or worse the eyebrows have become an essential part of the car's character and if you take them away I guess it loses something. As usual, this was just a little "What if" experiment. No need for any '61 Plymouth lovers to take offence.

I vote a draw, by the way.

That is an interesting change you made to the grille Graeme; it may have been better received back in the day.  I found another similar image to add to the discussion (see last pic).  Also, here is one extra feature that Plymouth offered for the nose of their '61 that I think detracts; the chrome headlight surround.  I much prefer the body color surrounding the headlights....

Interestingly enough, that red car you show was the subject of another of my "experiments" a while back. Widened grille, severely cut-back "eyebrows" and the grafting on of 1960 fins (just to further confuse the issue ).

@graeme-ogg Oh wow....now there's a change that would polarize opinion.  After careful consideration....I'll take the Corvette parked next door! Wink

I wonder what the taillights of the '59 Fury would have looked like grafted onto the rear on the '61 in place of those "bullets"?  I suspect much better??

Well, when I transplanted the 1960 fins on to that '61, I reduced their size and squeezed them vertically so they ended up about the size of the 1960 fins, so I don't think it would make much difference.

I had a quick play around with your images, adding the fins and removing the central rib,  but the result wasn't very convincing.
