Ohhh John!! You're killing me here!!
Love both of these birds. I like the 'flair bird' just a scooch less. Sixty-Three for me!
I like both but the 1963 better too.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
This was close for me as these two years for the big Thunderbirds are my favorites but the 63, bullet bird, edges out the 65, sculpture bird, primarily for it's continuous fender line and the round tail lights. Good comparison John.
The '63 wins this by a country mile IMHO. The '61 thru '63 design is absolutely gorgeous; the later years don't even come close. I owned a '64 in the same color as the '65 shown.....I did not like it at all and didn't keep it very long.
I prefer the '64 - '66. But I don't like the T-bird in a hardtop, a T-bird must be a top down convertible [unless it is raining, of course]. No interest today.
I much prefer the 1963 in these larger Thunderbirds. While these sold best, I still am a big fan of the original 1955 to 1957.
Well, I've never cuddled up to the '61 through '63 T-Birds, but this '63 head-to-head with the '65, I'll take the '63. To my eyes, the '65 became an even worse styling design after an already bad one. So the '63 for me for being just a little easier to look at.

‘63, even though it has a ‘61 grill and incorrect wide whites.
@pete-rovero and the outside mirror is wrong. All 63s had trapezoidal shaped mirrors, not round.
