This is a prime example of how we all have different perceptions of our cars. To me, these look like the same car with slightly different grilles. Many of you probably think I'm blind. But, this is how younger people see our cars of the fifties and some sixties. And...it's how many of us see the selection of current cars. But the guys who are buying them are as excited as we were back in the day.

I see no similarity at all in these two cars but I get your point. I think the same is true with music...I think most of today's recordings are pure noise and I'm sure young people today would say that about music from the fifties.

I'm in the DeSoto camp, but I much prefer the Mercury flat head V8 of '47.  Styling or engine, I voted styling.

I voted for the DeSoto, but strictly on style.

I don't think the two cars look anything alike, with perhaps the grille a little bit.  I think the DeSoto looks sleeker and longer, while the Mercury is short, tubby and higher looking.

This would mean that I voted for the DeSoto.  Smile

In this instance I choose the Mercury, not for style but because of that great flat head V8 motor.

I've always loved DeSoto's '40s waterfall grille and in fact have just this morning paid Buzz for a copy of the '42 convertible with retractable headlamps so there's no doubt where my vote is going.
